This vessel was thrown on the wheel, then covered with a satin black glaze, before using the sgraffito technique, caved for the desires effect. The pot is a perfectly fitting lid, also adorned with the sgraffito technique.

11” wheel thrown stoneware vessel glazed with a satin black glaze to compliment the spotted brown stoneware clay. Carving reveals a juxtaposition from the clay color to the glaze itself. Order is gained as the repetitious carved rigid lines intersect the meandering black portions of the vessel.
